Armenian acting FM delivers speech at Washington’s Carnegie Institution
YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS. Acting Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian on September 29 delivered a speech on the Armenian foreign policy in Carnegie Institution in Washington, press service of the MFA informed “Armenpress”.
Vice President of Carnegie Andrew S. Weiss, US State Department and National Security Council officials, leading analysts, diplomats accredited to Washington were present at the meeting.
In his speech Edward Nalbandian presented Armenia’s foreign policy priorities, Armenia’s path within 25 years since the declaration of Independence, Armenia’s approaches on a number of regional issues and their solutions.
The acting Minister presented to the leading US analysts the consequences of the Azerbaijani aggression unleashed against Nagorno Karabakh in April, the efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairing countries aimed at overcoming them, the current stage of the Karabkh conflict settlement process, the agreements reached at Vienna and St. Petersburg summits aimed at creating necessary conditions for moving forward the negotiation process, as well as Azerbaijan’s unconstructive behavior and its attempts to refuse from the agreements.
Responding to the participants’ questions Nalbandian talked about the gross violations of the international humanitarian law committed by the Azerbaijani forces during the April war, Armenia’s membership to the Eurasian Economic Union, Armenia-EU cooperation, the Armenian-Iranian relations.
