Cuts in expenses expected in all sectors: Government is going to be conservative
YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 29, ARMENPRESS. According to the 2017 state budget cuts in expenses are expected in all sectors, Finance Minister Vardan Aramyan said after the Government’s session, reports “Armenpress”.
“The decision was made since we have fixed the goal which is the debt figures and sustainability. For two years we have regularly had a quite high level of deficit in the GDP. Our major goal is to be more conservative in terms of expenses and to more consistently implement the projects”, he said.
Spending money must have a precise goal, must bring added value. He said the new Government will later put a special emphasis on this path.
To the question whether the expenses are being cut since it became difficult to receive loans, Aramyan said taking a loan is not a problem, the problem is when you take the loan and carry out unstable policy.
“Previously it was such a situation in the economy that it was necessary to give a new impetus through a debt, otherwise there would be much lower growth than more than 3%. If we added the debt more drastic, it would ensure higher economic growth. But we have chosen more modest option. Next year we are going to be more conservative”, Aramyan said.
