YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 29, ARMENPRESS. 1317 state-funded coronary stent placements have been conducted during the 9 months of 2016 in Armenia in the framework of “Urgent heart surgery program”, Healthcare Ministry official Tsaghik Vardanyan told at “Armenpress” media hall.

“We conducted 737 stent placements during the same period last year. This does not mean that the number of sick people has increased: this number is the same compared to last year. The increase of the number of people included in “Urgent heart surgery program” is conditioned by that the program has become more accessible for the public, public awareness has risen and people make use of the opportunities of the program”, she said.

“Urgent heart surgery program” was launched in Armenia in 2015. According to Tsaghik Vardanyan, the number of deaths recorded as a result of acute myocardial infarction has decreased by 500.
