YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 27, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian community of USA doesn’t have a united decision to support any of the presidential candidates, publisher and editor of The California Courier newspaper Harut Sassounian said in an interview with “Armenpress”.

“The Armenian community of USA has not made a decision on this issue yet. No major organization, no community has made a statement on preferring this or that candidate since we face a serious problem. We have two candidates, one of them is Hillary Clinton, from whom we are dissatisfied for not respecting her past promises about Armenian and other issues. The other one is Donald Trump, and here there is also a problem: he didn’t say anything about the Armenian question, we are not familiar with his stance. We cannot blindly support him until we will have a chance to speak with him”, Harut Sassounian said.

He said there is no need to concentrate on the issue whether this or that candidate recognizes the Armenian Genocide or not. “The experience shows that the candidates make promises, but do not keep their promises. We don’t need such promises which they will not respect. The Armenian Genocide is already recognized and we don’t need to ask someone to recognize it. We have other issues, in particular, the Karabakh issue, the foreign assistance of the US to Armenia, the elimination of blockade, exerting pressure on Turkey, receiving our properties, the issues of Syrian Armenians and etc. It is necessary to deal with the candidates over these preferred issues”, he said.

As for the Armenian Genocide, Harut Sassounian said they continue demanding justice, carry out works towards returning what has been lost. He considered the international courts as a path for that.
