YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS. US-based Muslim Cleric Fethullah Gulen blames Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on organizing the military coup attempt in Turkey on July 15, Deutsche Welle reported.

Gulen said Erdogan planned to conduct the military coup several years ago, but he was waiting for the right moment.

Gulen said Erdogan used the coup attempt to dismiss persons from their posts unwanted for him, to arrest them, and to strengthen his positions. He commented the deterioration of relations between him and Erdogan as “Erdogan’s revenge who didn’t justify the expectations”.

“Erdogan hoped we were going to announce him leader of the Muslim world, that we were going to work on that throughout the world. When he realized such thing will not happen, he acted against us”, Gulen said.

He said he is not concerned that the US will extradite him to Turkey.

The Turkish leadership blames Gulen on organizing the military coup attempt in Turkey on July 15 and asks the US to extradite him to Turkey.
