After April operations Azerbaijan suffered military-political loss – Armenian former Defense
Minister

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS. The existence of war in the region is not in the interests of Russia. In case of war Russia losses its influence in the region, instead of it Turkey or other state strengthen their positions in the region, former Defense Minister of Armenia Vagharshak Harutyunyan said, reports “Armenpress”.

“Russia carefully follows the developments and it is not coincidence that it was the first during the April events that reacted at the President level and did everything to prevent the war”, he said.

To the question why the weapons obtained from the allied state were not used during the April war, the former Minister said at that time Armenia’s military-political leadership approached to the issue in a quite responsible way.

“The result is that Azerbaijan suffered military-political loss, and we gained. Firstly Azerbaijan showed that it doesn’t fulfill its international obligations. Then, it for years spends huge money on the army in order to reach its goal, but during these four days it became clear that money was spent in vain, it even cannot take a settlement. This greatly impacted Azerbaijan’s reputation. After April events all super-powers will take into account that Azerbaijan is unable to solve the issue through military means”, he said.

He also referred to the views that the supply of Russian weapons in exchange for 200 mln USD is not being implemented.

“Russia has a program according to which its armor must be repaired and changed by 70%. It is obvious time is needed for producing and transferring the weapons”, Vagharshak Harutyunyan said.
