Finals

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS. 3 out of 13 ideas represented within the framework of Climate Launchpad Armenia program will be presented in the Climate Launchpad European Finals on October 7-9 in Estonia.

Climate Launchpad Armenia program aims to reveal and promote the Armenian startup companies operating in clean technology and climate change sector.

In this competition the first three winning teams will receive 5000, 10000 and 2500 Euros in cash prizes, and 10 startup companies will have a chance to participate in CLIMATE-KIC Accelerator.

Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Emil Tarasyan welcomed the program highlighting its importance for economy’s progress.

“It is very welcoming that the teams are receiving an opportunity to take part in this competition based on the idea since it is the idea that is the main driving force of the economy. This also provides an opportunity for the Armenian thought to be presented to the European states, and I am almost sure the three winners will find their places and will contribute to the economic growth through the installation of their ideas. I hope those teams that will not be included in this top three, will continue to make their ideas come true and install them in the economic sectors”, Tarasyan said, “Armenpress” reported.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Hayk Harutyunyan said the energy sector and climate are directly linked with one another. “70% of emissions in Armenia are due to energy taking into account the transportation, electricity, gas used in the apartments and etc. It is natural that the role of energy in the climate change is significant. We consider energy savings as one of the most important cornerstones of our energy policy. We have carried out various works for promoting that both in the public and private sectors. That’s why we consider important the development of new technologies and the involvement of the private sector in that processes. We want to get acquainted with those ideas and support, bring some logical outcome”, Hayk Harutyunyan said.

Anna Simonyan presents C-GLASS startup team which proposes a new technology of energy-saving membrane deposition on glass which will allow to save 90% energy.

“Our team consists of three members. Team senior Jozef Panosyan for many years has tried to create a membrane having similar properties which also has a cheaper method of preparation. I highly assess the teams’ chances since if we manage to change the windows of all buildings, in that case it will become really possible to save energy”, she said.

SmarterWheels startup team offers wheels which will work through 95% reduction in the use of rubber. Team member Suren Edilyan said the idea is the first in the world.
