YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. The Turkish Government finally allowed the members of the defense committee of the German parliament to visit the German soldiers at Incirlik air base, Reuters reports.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier welcomed on September 8 Ankara's decision to allow German MPs to visit soldiers at Incirlik air base in Turkey.

"An army that answers to parliament must be able to be visited by their deputies," Steinmeier said. "With this decision by the Turkish government, we are a little further on in our relations."

Turkey had banned German MPs from visiting their soldiers at the Incirlik ais base in response to a parliamentary resolution declaring the 1915 massacre of Armenians by the Ottoman Empire a "genocide".
