YEREVAN, AUGUST 31, ARMENPRESS. Parliament Speaker of Armenia Galust Sahakyan held a meeting with Chairman of Japan-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship League Seishiro Eto and the League members on August 31, press service of the Parliament told “Armenpress”.

Welcoming the guest, Galust Sahakyan highly appreciated the Armenian-Japanese relations stating that they are based on friendship and mutual trust.  

The Armenian Parliament Speaker said the inter-parliamentary format plays a key role in the agenda of the Armenian-Japanese bilateral relations. In this context Galust Sahakyan expressed confidence the inter-parliamentary cooperation is an important measure for strengthening the bilateral inter-state relations and ensuring the mutual trust.

The Parliament Speaker said with satisfaction the activities of the parliamentary friendship groups of the two states contributed to the further development of Armenian-Japanese inter-parliamentary relations in recent years.

Referring to the April four-day war, the Parliament Speaker said in those days Azerbaijan grossly violated the ceasefire agreement through large-scale operations which resulted in numerous losses and wounded. “Armenia is determined to settle the conflict through peaceful means with a stance of implementing the fair demand of the NKR people’s right to self-determination”, Galust Sahakyan said.

The guests also underscored the contacts and the mutual visits between the parliamentary friendship groups which contribute to the deepening of the relations and cooperation.

Speaking about the April four-day war, Seishiro Eto said the Nagorno Karabakh conflict must be settled through peaceful negotiations, through the OSCE Minsk Group format which plays a significant role for maintenance of peace in the region.

At the end of the meeting Seishiro Eto conveyed Galust Sahakyan Speaker of Japanese House of Representatives Tadamori Oshima’s invitation to visit Japan.
