Arrested Russian citizen in Yerevan to return to Russia

Arrested Russian citizen in Yerevan to return to Russia

YEREVAN, AUGUST 30, ARMENPRESS. Russian citizen Sergei Mironov – who had been arrested by law enforcement officers in Yerevan’s Zvartnots airport – will return to Russia on August 31, Mironov’s attorney Karen Nersisyan told Interfax, adding his client is still in Yerevan. “His ticket is for August 31”, Nersisyan said.

The attorney said Armenian law enforcement agencies haven’t yet requested Mironov to go to the Prosecution. “Today he will go to the Russian embassy, however the prosecution hasn’t called him yet”.

The attorney says Mironov is free to leave Armenia because the court hasn’t issued an arrest warrant.

On August 26 Mironov was arrested at Yerevan’s Zvartnots airport.

U.S. law enforcement agencies had listed Mironov on the international wanted list since May 11, 2016, for arms trafficking and money laundering.
