Armenian citizen who had crossed into Azerbaijani territory returns to motherland

YEREVAN, AUGUST 23, ARMENPRESS. Armenian citizen Henrik Aghekyan who crossed the Azerbaijani border in the direction of Nakhichevan on August 7 has been sent back to Armenia. Head of the working group of the State Commission of the Republic of Armenia for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons Armen Kaprielian told “Armenpress” the return of Aghekyan was organized on August 23 at 18:00 by local time.

“Aghekyan suffers psychological illness. According to preliminary examination, he is in normal health state, but today or tomorrow he will undergo a comprehensive medical examination in line with standard procedure”, Kaprielian said.

Resident of Aygepat village of Ararat Province Henrik Aghekyan, born in 1954, crossed the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on August 7 in the direction of Nakhichevan. Aghekyan suffers psychological illness. In the past he has made a number of attempts to cross the border, but was discovered by Armenian border guards and the attempts were foiled.
