YEREVAN, JULY 29, ARMENPRESS. According to Garnik Isagulyan, President of the “National Security” party, from the moment the gunmen have taken paramedics hostage, they are considered terrorists.

Isagulyan told a press conference on July 29 from that moment on the state has the right to take any measure by the law to free the hostages.

“But even after this the gunmen have been demanded to lay down the weapons and surrender”, he said.

He said he has taken actions from the very beginning to resolve the matter peacefully.

“Authorities granted our request to be swapped for the hostage police officers, but the gunmen refused this. The second initiative was Vitaly Balasanyan arriving from Nagorno Karabakh, who contacted the authorities first. By reaching an agreement, he contacted the gunmen. At first it was planned to enter the precinct with 4 people, however the gunmen allowed Vitaly Balasanyan only to enter. Afterwards Balasanyan was able to convince the gunmen to allow Ashot Minasyan entering the area too. The negotiations were proceeding very well and the result came shortly afterwards. As result of agreements, reporters were allowed to enter the precinct in exchange for releasing the hostage police officers. We had a clear agreement with the gunmen that 7 cameras and 14 reporters will enter. Afterwards the gunmen changed their decision demanding that all reporters willing to enter must be allowed. As a result, more than 65 reporters with 30 cameras entered. The delay in the live feed was due to this fact. The second condition was nobody from the gunmen has the right to interact with reporters while armed, however this condition was violated by the gunmen. There was an agreement that reporters shouldn’t cross the security line, but this was also violated. And after unexpected gunfire, Vitaly Balasanyan asked reporters to leave. The gunmen violated all agreements”, Isagulyan said.

He said he was present during the meeting with Zhirayr Sefilian, and Vitaly Balasanyan’s announcement is true.

“During the meeting with Zhirayr Sefilian, Vitaly Balasanyan, Alek Yenigomshyan, me , and one more person who was making records were present. Vitaly Balasanyan’s announcement that Sefilian did not demand the resignation of Serzh Sargsyan is true. Now, is he has changed his point of view, it is another issue. Vitaly Balasanyan is a military man, he listens directly, understands directly and delivers directly”, Isagulyan said.

Isagulyan is indignant over “Founding Parliament” member Alek Yenigomshyan’s announcement, which stated as if Balasanyan has lied.

He presented an episode from Yenigomshyan’s life. “ Because Mr. Yenigomshyan has allowed himself to discredit my friend (Vitaly Balasanyan) and call a liar, I will present two episodes from Yenigomshyan’s life. In 1980 Yenigomshyan, along with Syuzi Mahserejyan had plotted a terrorist attack in Geneva, the bomb went off in the hotel room in his hands, because it was adjusted wrongly. Fortunately Syuzi was in the other room. Yenigomshyan lost his hand and vision, but Syuzi, who is the wife of Monte Melkonyan’s brother, was equally charged with Yenigomshyan. Firstly, let him answer who this terror attack was aimed at. There is a false opinion among many, as if it was aimed at the Turkish embassy of something. Let me say that this is not correct. Let him answer, but I will give a name – Vahe Gavrash – a philanthropist, who is currently an Armenian citizen and is greatly helping Nagorno Karabakh. What was found in Mr. Yenigomshyan’s pocket – the project document of the Turkish embassy? Or in fact the project of someone’s home, whom they tried to racketeer, and the latter refused”, Isagulyan said.

He noted that the Swiss Special Services possess the documents of this case.

“Mr. Yenigomshyan, I empathize you, you are a patriotic man, but there is no need to lie, especially calling a legendary hero a liar, who has proved that he doesn’t lie and doesn’t confuse anyone, and if he had continued his mediating mission, I am sure the resolution would be ready the next day”, he said.
