RPA approach remains the same – bloodshed shouldn’t be allowed, says Deputy Speaker of Parliament

RPA approach remains the same – bloodshed shouldn’t be allowed, says Deputy Speaker of
Parliament

YEREVAN, JULY 28, ARMENPRESS. A peaceful resolution must be found regarding the capture of a Police precinct in Yerevan, for which negotiations are in proceeding, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hermine Naghdalyan said at a briefing.

“The leadership’s approach has been expressed by the President of Armenia and the Speaker of the party. Our approach remains that an Armenian must not fire at Armenians. We cannot allow new bloodshed”, she said.

Touching upon rumors on possible compromises in the negotiations process, Naghdalyan noted that it’s not about compromises.

“The issues which are being talked about are issues which have accumulated in our country over the years, in regard of which reforms are proceeding, however today they are overshadowed by a new issue – the situation must be resolved without bloodshed”, Naghdalyan said.

Naghdalyan also spoke about MP Nikol Pashinyan’s initiative on convening an extraordinary session in Parliament. She stressed that the Speaker of Parliament has voiced the stance of RPA on this matter.

“Several signatures were collected, however those weren’t enough. We think it’s not about convening an extraordinary session; it’s about resolving the situation peacefully. There are criminal cases, investigations are underway, and the discussion of these matters by lawmakers is fraught with new escalations. Our main approach has been to not harm the ongoing negotiation process”, Naghdalyan said.

Deputy Speaker Naghdalyan also expressed concern over the captive doctors, stressing that such approach is unacceptable.
