Creative Unions of Armenia urge to unity and not succumbing to provocations

YEREVAN, JULY 22, ARMENPRESS. Creative unions of Armenia are urging for unity.

Heads of various creative unions told a press conference in ARMENPRESS that they are deeply concerned over the latest situation in Yerevan, and they think solving the issues which are faced by the people during crucial times should be pondered upon.

“The emphasis of our urge is mainly the following – no bloodshed and the unity of Armenian people.

The pain of the April war is still present and suddenly these events are developing. It is surprising, but Zoravar Andranik’s 1906 urge is timely for the present developments. The Armenian should not take weapons against Armenians”, Eduard Militonyan, President of the Writers’ Union said.

President of the Architects’ Union Mkrtich Minasyan said everyone is anxious these days and wish no bloodshed to happen.

The only outcome of the situation must be peaceful – without unnecessary ups and downs, said Karen Aghamyan, President of the Painters’ Union.

Aram Satyan, President of the Composers’ Union, says during these days the speeches of artists and intellectuals are very important.

“Armenian going against an Armenian is a terrifying thing. What does the hostage taking of an Armenian by an Armenian mean for the sake of salvation of Armenians, this is absurd”, he said.

President of the Journalists’ Union Astghik Gevorgyan says the Armenian people like to be proud of their history, but don’t like to learn lessons from this history.

“We have many concerning moments. The word hostage is not appropriate for the perceptions of the Armenian people. It doesn’t have any connection to us, I wish, that the glorious war veterans who are now in this euphoric situation- whom we were proud of, whom we celebrated – to sober up and think why they are taking the responsibility of the word hostage on themselves”, she said.

President of the Cinematographers’ Union Ruben Gevorgyan also made an urge for negotiations and unity.
