Australian-Armenian community raises 112K dollars for Nagorno Karabakh Army

YEREVAN, JULY 22, ARMENPRESS. 112 thousand USD was raised during a fundraiser telethon in Australia in support of Nagorno Karabakh, Armenian National Committee Executive Administrator Arin Margaryan told ARMENPRESS.

“The financial transactions were overall from the Armenian community of Australia. I can say with great pride that Armenians of Australia demonstrated generosity and kindness for the people of Nagorno Karabakh.

Our community showed how united and strong it can be for helping the courageous people of Nagorno Karabakh. We are very happy for such results of the donations.

Just like the lyrics of the song – “Artsakh is calling us, reach out”, I think this community can be proud by its activeness and financial aid”, Arin Margaryan said.

He underscored that it doesn’t matter how much money was donated, since everyone – youth and elderly, joined for helping Nagorno Karabakh. Donations were received starting from 10 Australian dollars up to 10 thousand.

The majority who donated were of course Armenians, but donations were also received from Greeks and Assyrians. Those, who are aware of our current issues”, he added.

The raised amount will entirely be provided to the “NKR independence, security and peace fund”.

The first program of using the money is directed at acquisition of necessary equipment for the Army of Nagorno Karabakh.

The telethon was held on July 18. It was held under the sponsorship of Kaylar Mikayelyan, Permanent Representative of NKR in Australia and was organized by “Dro” Committee of ARF Australia and its associate unions, Armenian National Committee of Armenia and “Armenia Media” Press and Information Association.
