YEREVAN, JULY 16, ARMENPRESS. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a press conference in the Istanbul Ataturk Airport commenting on the failed military coup attempt in Turkey on July 15, reports Anadolu.

Erdogan said the coup attempt was an act of treason.

He said the “parallel structure” is responsible for what had happened. He said it is a reason to clean up the armed forces.

Referring to the fact that the supporters of the coup have applied F-16 fighter jets, Erdogan said: “We have bought F-16 fighter jets for our country’s defense. But now the F-16 users came and want not to allow the passengers to fly, and they even threaten the President of the country”.  

The journalists asked Erdogan on the condition of the Chief of General Staff, but Erdogan said he has no information about him.

Erdogan called the coup initiators to stand away from the wrong path, lay down the arms and said they will pay for what they did.
