YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. Oscar Wilde’s “The Picture of Dorian Gray” tops this week’s YEREVAN BESTSELLER list. It is one of the most popular novels in the world.

“Who Moved My Cheese?” by Spencer Johnson comes next. It is a motivational tale by Spencer Johnson written in the style of a parable or business fable. The text describes change in one's work and life, and four typical reactions to those changes by two mice and two "little people," during their hunt for cheese. 

“The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green is ranked 3rd in the list. Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, “The Fault in Our Stars” is award-winning-author John Green’s most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

“Nausea” is ranked 4th. It is a philosophical novel by the existentialist philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, published in 1938. It is Sartre's first novel and, in his opinion, one of his best works.

"One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel García Márquez comes next.

“And the Mountains Echoed” by Afghan-American author Khaled Hosseini is 6th in the list.

The book's foundation is built on the relationship between ten-year-old Abdullah and his three-year-old sister Pari and their father's decision to sell her to a childless couple in Kabul, an event that ties the various narratives together.

"Love in the Time of Cholera" by Gabriel García Márquez is 7th in this week’s list. “People are not always born the day their mothers bring them to the world: Life forces them to be reborn many times”, this is the philosophy of the novel. It was translated to Armenian by Frunzik Kirakosyan

Mark Aren’s “Where wild roses bloom” comes next. This is the second novel of the author which describes the inner world of an Armenophobic Turkish former serviceman, when he, already an old man, suddenly hears a lullaby song that reminds him of his mother and later finds out that the song is in Armenian: realizing his parents were Armenians. The same former serviceman spends his remaining life searching the graves of his parents, without knowing that it was a misunderstanding.

Edgar Harutyunyan’s “The Art of Devotion or Ode to the Rose” is next.

“The Red Collar” by JEAN-CHRISTOPHE RUFIN concludes the list.

Jean-Christophe Rufin is one of the founders of Doctors Without Borders and a former Ambassador of France in Senegal. He has written numerous bestsellers, including The Abyssinian, for which he won the Goncourt Prize for a debut novel in 1997.
