Andrew Woolford: Inaction is dangerous for Genocide prevention

YEREVAN, APRIL 23, ARMENPRESS. Genocide is a crime against humanity, and the prevention of such crimes needs serious steps. President of the International Association of Genocide Scholars Andrew Woolford stated this during the “Against the Crime of Genocide” Global Forum in Yerevan. “Actually researches are taking serious steps in this direction, however this is not enough. Countries should have political will for the prevention of genocides”, “Armenpress” reports Woolford saying.

He added that inaction towards prevention of genocide is very dangerous and can lead to recurrence of such crimes. “Everyone should realize that inaction is very dangerous. It is necessary to have political will and take real steps for the prevention of genocides”, he said.

Woolford noted that the “Against the Crime of Genocide” forum is a very good platform for discussions on genocide prevention. “Many researchers and scientists are gathered here, it is good to listen to their views and ideas”, Woolford said.

The 2nd “Against the Crime of Genocide” Global Forum kicked off in Yerevan. Sessions are scheduled to take place, followed by Q&As. Participants will deliver speeches.

More than 70 foreign media are covering the forum.
