Multiple chess champion of Armenia Eduard Mnatsakanyan passed away

YEREVAN, JANUARY 18, ARMENPRESS. AT the age of 78 multiple chess champion of Armenia Eduard Mnatsakanyan passed away on January 18. “Armenpress” reports the official website of the Chess Federation of the Republic of Armenia informs Eduard Mnatsakanyan was born on December 6, 1938 in Yerevan. He became the champion of Armenia in 1958, 1959, 1960, 1962 and 1967.

He became world champion of student tournaments twice as a member of USSR team. For years he was the head coach of Armenia’s female team.

He was bestowed with title of international master in 1978. The President of the Republic of Armenia awarded Eduard Mnatsakanyan with “Tigran Petrosyan” golden medal in 2009.
