Azerbaijani policy is based on populism: expert

Azerbaijani policy is based on populism: expert

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS. The OSCE MG applies the most effective mechanisms for the regulation of border incidents. Leader of a youth movement, expert Aghvan Poghosyan expressed such an opinion during the conversation with “Armenpress”. He stated that restoration of stability is MG’s objective, the realization of which, however, is not put on a practical platform.

“The meetings organized by the mediators has not yet reached their resolution, and today we observe what happens on our borders, resulting in numerous innocent victims. If we used to note earlier that formal meetings had certain impact when raising issues on international political platforms, now the economic factor has added to the political factor and possession of certain economic resources testifies to the ineffective management of our condition today.” Poghosyan said.

According to him, Azerbaijan possesses economic resources and despite the fact that Azerbaijan has a totalitarian regime, low level of human rights and elements of democracy are lacking in the country, still it is able to impact the superstates and regulate issues in its favour using its resources.

“The options for solving challenges of the external policy in a totalitarian regime are as follows: use of military force and economic resources. Azerbaijani policy is based on populism, there are no practical mechanisms. The latter is proved by incidents on the border, border violations,” Poghosyan said.
