Armenia National Assembly discusses issue related to prohibition of online gambling games

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. The Government of the Republic of Armenia proposes to prohibit advertising of online gambling games via radio, TV and other media. The National Assembly discusses the package of bills related to making changes and amendments to the law of the Republic of Armenia on Gambling and Casinos and the Law of the Republic of Armenia on Advertising. Main speaker, Armenia Deputy Minister Vakhtang Mirumyan emphasized that the objective of the package of bills is to have a unified approach on the advertising of online gambling games, as well as casinos and other types of gambling games, establishing that advertising of other types of casinos and internet gambling games is prohibited.

Mirumyan  said that advertising will be allowed only in cases when the games are advertised directly by game centers, or if they are placed in Republic of Armenia border entry points or hotels complying with not less than 4 star qualification requirements and standards.

Deputy Minister also stated that apart from the unified approach, the package of bills is aimed at preventing Armenia citizens especially minors from becoming addicted to gambling games.
