YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 27, ARMENPRESS. “CerTour” agritourism’s quality system certification program promotes agritourism’s development, including quality standards in the sector; integration to the international structures which gives an opportunity to introduce Armenia’s provided services in the sector of agrotourism in the frames of international system.

As “Armenpress” reports, head of Tourism Development Policy Department of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia Mekhak Apresyan made such observation during the meeting with journalists on November 27.

“Diversifying tourism products is one of the basic issues of the state policy and agrotourism’s development is extremely important as it promotes the development of tourism in communities, the possibility of creating non-agricultural work places except creating agricultural work places,” Apresyan mentioned adding that “CerTour” program comes to solving this problems. 

Ecotourism Association President Zhanna Galyan said that agrotourism was not developed in Armenia a few years ago and there were fears that the sector will hardly develop, but rural guesthouses work quite well today.
