Hovik Abrahamyan to head RPA headquarters for referendum

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 19, ARMENPRESS. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan, will head the headquarters of the Republican Party of Armenia for the referendum on Constitutional reforms. RPA spokesperson, Vice President of Republic of Armenia Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov told the journalists about this after the RPA Executive Board meeting. “We discussed the participation of the Republican Party of Armenia in the campaign of the referendum on Constitutional reforms during the session. The President of the Republic assigned PM Hovik Abrahamyan to form headquarters and administer them”, “Armenpress” reports, Sharmazanov emphasized.

He mentioned that the post of Prime Minister will not be an obstacle for him to head the party headquarters. “There is a law on referendum, which allows him to fulfill his commitments as the head of the Government and simultaneously administer the headquarter”, National Assembly Vice President added.

He also stated that during the campaign the RPA is ready to cooperate with other political forces who favor the Constitutional reforms. He stressed that it is very important for them to gain the support of the people, but it is not less important to hold the referendum in line with the law and corresponding to international standards.
