Armenia and EDB discuss new loan program worth 300 million USD

Yerevan, October 16, ARMENPRESS.  Eurasian Development Bank's (EDB) delegation headed by Dmitry Pankin, Chairman of the Management Board, paid a visited to Armenia and held meeting with Republic of Armenia PM Hovik Abrahamyan and Minister of Finance Gagik Khachatryan .

“Armenpress” was informed from the EDB press service that the parties discussed the interim results of EDB's work in Armenia and key areas for its future operations in the country.

The head of the Bank praised cooperation between EDB and Armenia. "EDB is ready to participate in the preparation and fulfilment of projects in the country and thereby to facilitate its economic growth," Dmitry Pankin said.

In particular, the EDB delegation, and the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Armenia discussed the current projects, including the finance for the project to modernize irrigation systems, for which EBD allotted 40 million USD loan, the construction of the Mastara reservoir and the North-South road corridor (Phase 4). The agreement by which Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development allots 150 million USD for North-South road corridor construction came into force in October.

The issue of allotting 300 million USD credit for implementing 3-years long reform projects was also discussed.  At this point the issue is being analyzed by the Council of the Fund. In case of a positive outcome, the first transfer, 100 million USD, will be implemented until the end of this year.
