Garegin Melkonyan: Government’s forecasts of economic growth are realistic

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 15, ARMENPRESS. Government’s forecasts of economic growth in Armenia are based on precise calculations and analysis and are realistic. First Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Garegin Melkonyan told the journalists referring to the remark that the EBRD has predicted 1-3% economic growth for Armenia this year, while the Government predicts up to 4%.

“The Government makes that forecasts based on precise calculations and our regular analysis. Very little time is left till the end of the year and you will make sure soon that the Government’s predictions are realistic and were within the limits of the announcement”, “Armenpress” reports, Melkonyan mentioned.

To the remark that investments and transfers have significantly reduced, the Deputy Minister emphasized, that statistical data on both foreign trade and investments has changed for the better compared to the beginning of the year. “It is clear for all of you that the complicated regional economic situation would have its impact also on Armenian economy, because some countries that appeared in economic hardships, are our partners in foreign trade, some other countries are our partners in investments”, the Minister said, adding that the situation has greatly changed compared to the beginning of the year.

Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Yerevan office Mark Davis had announced that the EBRD  predicts 1-3% economic growth, while day ago Armenian PM expressed conviction that Armenia will record 3.5-4% economic growth.
