YEREVAN, OCTOBER 2, ARMENPRESS. A concert that marked the opening of the 2015/2016 season of the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia (partner - "Unibank") was held on the 1st of October, at the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet after Al. Spendiaryan.

As “Armenpress” was informed by the Department of Public Relations of State Youth Orchestra (SYOA), the State Youth Orchestra performed Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.1 (Armen Babakhanian/piano), pieces from Aram Khachaturian “Spartacus” Ballet (Introduction and Dance, Adagio Spartacus and Phrygia, Variation of Aegina and Bacchanalia, Scene and Dance with Crotalums, Dance of Gaditanae and Victory of Spartacus).

The Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia Sergey Smbatyan mentioned that it is a rather important day both for him and orchestra. Musician always look forward to the new concert season. The maestro underlined that a very active concert season with a busy schedule both in Armenia and abroad is expected.

"We know that the Armenian audience is waiting for us, and we will do every possible thing to realize more interesting projects."

Summing up the results of the previous season, it should be noted that it was productive, effective and full of achievements. Numerous meetings with the Armenian audience and concert series were held abroad, which have received the appreciation of foreign audiences. During the last season the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia was the official orchestra of Al Bustan International Festival and this is a long term process.

Performances at UNESCO Hall in Paris and at "Debussy" concert hall in Cannes. The orchestra has just returned from Austria and Spain, where preformed with concerts at the world famous stages: Brucknerfest and the Vienna "Musikverein", "Mozart" concert hall in Zaragoza and the "Teatro Real" in Madrid.

Within the new season, from October 3 to December 5, the Youth Orchestra will present Khachaturian International Festival, which since 2015 is held under the patronage of RA President Serzh Sargsyan. The festival will feature symphony (on Saturdays) and the chamber (on Wednesdays) concerts. In December of new 2015 season the Youth Orchestra will present Non Stop Concert Program and in January the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia will celebrate its 10th anniversary.
