YEREVAN, OCTOBER 2, ARMENPRESS. Republic of Armenia Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan was in Bucharest on an official visit on September 29-October 1. As “Armenpress” was informed by the Department of Media and Public Relations of the Ministry of Diaspora, the visit started with Hranush Hakobyan’s meeting with Romania State Secretary for Religious Affairs Victor Opaschi.  Issues related to the Armenian community in Romania, particularly the centuries’ existence of an Armenian church in Romania were discussed at the meeting.

Minister Hakobyan introduced the current process and projects of cooperation between Armenia and the Diaspora directed towards preservation of Diaspora cultural heritage. State Secretary for Religious Affairs of Romania introduced state assistance programs and joint events intended for religious minorities, especially those for the Armenian Diocese of Romania, emphasizing the special role of the Armenian community of Romania in the development of Romania.

During the entire visit Minister Hakobyan was accompanied by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Romania Hamlet Gasparyan.

Minister Hakobyan also visited Bucharest Cathedral, the Armenians’ Union of Romania, “Ararat” publishing and printing house, Dudyan Museum and Library where Chairman of the Armenians’ Union of Romania Varuzhan Voskanyan had organized a meeting with the Armenian community of Romania.
