ARF confident on Constitutional reforms to modernize state system

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 15, ARMENPRESS. ARF is confident that the adoption of the draft Constitution will open a new page for the development of Armenia as a whole, by creating a new, modern state system to fulfill the will of the people. Head of the ARF faction, Armen Rustamyan, told about this at the National Assembly. “It will substitute the current state system and the political-legal regime that has already been exhausted and discredited. We have been convinced in this since the independence of Armenia. We are sure that the legislative regime established during 1991-1995 was anti-democratic and would have severe consequences”, “Armenpress” reports, Rustamyan mentioned.

He noted that the President’s institute was introduced in Armenia in 1991 when Armenia still did not have its Constitution, which, undoubtedly would lead to dictatorship, which the Armenian nation practiced itself. The ARF did not have the opportunity to inform our nation about the threats of that Constitution as the activities of the party were banned before the referendum and some members of the party were arrested by the regime.

The MP mentioned that now the ARF does what it could not do during 1991-1995. According to him, saying “yes” to the Constitutional reforms today is the same as saying “no” to the anti-democratic Constitution of 1995.
