Robot created by Armenian specialist to play chess with grandmasters

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS. The 11th annual Digitec Expo invoked an unprecedented interest in the local and international companies. The Executive director at the Union of Information Technology Enterprises, Karen Vardanyan, informed about this in an interview with journalists on September 9. “When we first organized Digitech Expo, we had 30 participants and 4 thousand visitors but this year over 130 companies will partake in the largest technology exhibition of the region and the number of visitors is expected to exceed 40 thousand”, “Armenpress” reports, he mentioned, adding that the main slogan of the Expo is “festival for technological Armenians”.

He noted that in addition of local companies a number of leading companies from the USA, China, Taiwan, Sweden, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia and Iran. Karen Vardanyan added that a group of technology experts comprised of 100 members will arrive from the USA.

“We plan that the companies of IT sector of our country will get acquainted with their Armenian colleagues from the USA after which, on October 3, we intend to hold a discussion with the Prime Minister of Armenia about strategies of the IT sector”, the expert mentioned, adding that a robot playing chess created by our compatriot will be introduced in the exhibition which will compete with Armenian grandmasters which will be a surprise for the President of Armenian Chess Federation.

Digitec 2015 will be held from October 2-4, in Yerevan Expo exhibition hall. Parallel to the exhibition of technologies, exhibition of robots that participated in an open competition of Armenia robots, robot festival as well as a number of cultural events  will be conducted.
