“Haier” unveils “double” washing machine
YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. A new washing machine with two drums stacked on top of one another has been unveiled at the IFA tech conference in Berlin. Made by Haier, it’s aimed at families and anyone who has ‘unexpected laundry needs’.
While the firm claims its dual-drum washer is the first of its kind, LG unveiled a washing machine with a mini-washer built into the pedestal at CES in Barcelona in January. “Armenpress” reports, referring to dailymail.co.uk that according to Haier, the average person family creates 220 loads of washing over the course of a year, which is equivalent to 330 hours of washing time.
The Duo washing machine allows users to start two different cycles in the upper and lower drum, and run them at the same, or different times as needed.
The machine has two front doors, with the upper drum being slightly smaller and able to hold 4kg of washing, while the lower drum is larger with an 8kg capacity. The upper drum can run 12 different programmes, and the lower drum 18.
Each is powered by a Smart Drive Motor, (SD Motor) built to last more than 10 years and one water outlet is inlet is needed to supply both drums. The drums have ‘Pillow’ technology to care for delicate clothes so they ‘slip along the pillows inside the drum while the washing machine in operating.’
There’s also a Smart Dual Spray of fluff-free washing and stain remover functions. Haier has not yet revealed pricing or availability for the model. LG also showed off its Twin Wash system which was announced during LG's press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas some months ago. It too lets users wash two loads of clothes simultaneously, but the secondary smaller washer is built into the machine’s pedestal and pulls out.
Homeowners can control the temperature and length of cycles, and set them to start while they're out of the house using an app.
