YEREVAN, AUGUST 11, ARMENPRESS.  Political scientists, director of “Voskanapat” analytical center Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan passed away after a heavy and prolonged illness. The “Armenpress” staff expresses its condolences to the relatives and friends of the politician.

Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan was born in 1958 in Kirovabad.  In 1974 he entered the Tashkent Institute of Russian language and literature. Melik-Shahnazaryan moved to Artsakh in 1988. He was the deputy leader of the “Unity” movement. In November December of the same year he led the self-defense units in Gandzak. In 1991 he was elected as a deputy of NKR National Assembly. From 1992 to 1995 he chaired the NKR National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.

Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan moved to Yerevan in 1997 and was engaged in lecturing and analytical activities. He is an author of more than 500 political analysis and articles.

He was marries and had three children.
