Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in turmoil in “By the Sea” trailer

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in turmoil in “By the Sea” trailer

YEREVAN, AUGUST 7, ARMENPRESS. The trailer for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s new movie is here and it portrays the powerhouse couple in a whole new light.

Armenpress reports, referring to news.com.au, that “By the Sea” sees the pair reunite on the big screen for the first time since Mr & Mrs Smith, the hit action comedy that brought them together a decade ago.

But, judging by the 90-second clip, By the Sea (which Jolie wrote, directed and produced) will be nothing like Mr & Mrs Smith.

The teaser introduces viewers to Vanessa and Roland, an estranged husband and wife travelling through France in the 1970s.

Pitt’s character asks questions such as “are we ever going to talk about it?” and “do you want to hurt me?” A blonde-haired Jolie kicks her husband out of bed in one scene and even slaps him across the face in another. Harry Nilsson’s Perfect Dayplays throughout.

“[The movie is about] a deeply unhappy couple on vacation in France who becomes involved with a pair of newlyweds staying at their seaside inn,” Jolie said.

The 40-year-old actress admitted the married couple, who have six children together, stumbled across plenty of difficulties while making the film. “I’d be directing myself and him in a scene where we’re having a fight, and I’d be pulling out the parts [of him] that have an aggression toward me or when you’re frustrated with each other — it was very heavy.”

In a bizarre twist, Jolie and Pitt actually filmed the movie while honeymooning, with production taking place on the island of Gozo off of Malta. “We kept joking that all of the crew felt like they were living in a house where the parents were fighting and you don’t know where to stand or where to look,” Jolie said.

The much-anticipated drama, which was picked up by Universal, is set to be released on November.
