Charles Aznavour presented his most beautiful songs in Lebanon: Arab press flooded with articles

YEREVAN, AUGUST 3, ARMENPRESS. The French-Armenian legendary singer Charles Aznavour presented his most beautiful songs in Festival international de Bathroun. As Armenpress informs referring to the National News Agency of the Ministry of Information of Lebanon, the legendary singer had a performance on August 1, in Beirut. 

Gebran Bassil, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lebanon, and representatives of other spheres, attended the cultural event. The website says that the singer, who has Armenian roots, sang and danced showing his happiness.

Aztag daily notes that the presence of the 91 year old energetic, enthusiastic, witty Aznavour was really charming. 

”I always return to Lebanon with great pleasure. I enjoy travelling and meeting the people I know.”, said Aznavour  in his interview with lorientlejour.com preceding the concert.

The legendary singer highlighted that the Turkish Government must recognize the Armenian Genocide. He noted that his mother had taught him to love the Turks.

In reply to the question if Aznavour is more Armenian or French, the singer answered that the 2 components cannot be divided. “Armenian is my family’s language, not mine. My mother tongue is French, my homeland - France. Armenia is my ancestors’ country.”, noted Aznavour.

Charles Aznavour is a French and Armenian singer, songwriter, actor, public activist and diplomat. Charles Aznavour was born on May 22, 1924.  Aznavour is known for his unique tenor voice: clear and ringing in its upper reaches, with gravelly and profound low notes. He has written more than 1,200 songs, sung in eight languages, sold more than 180 million records. In 2009, he was appointed ambassador of Armenia to Switzerland, as well as Armenia's permanent delegate to the United Nations at Geneva. He started his most recent tour in 2014.
