Aliev’s administration may encounter with problem of legitimacy during parliamentary elections

YEREVAN, AUGUST 1, ARMENPRESS. Azerbaijani authorities may encounter with the problem of legitimacy during the upcoming parliamentary elections and the issue has become a subject of discussion inside the regime. “Armenpress” reports that “Azadliq" newspaper informs about this.

According to information of the newspaper, the worsening of relations with the West, not sending observers by the European Parliament during the upcoming parliamentary elections and the ban against independent deputies to conduct observation mission has created an inextricable situation for the government.

According to the newspaper, this is the very reason that the authorities have applied to the OSCE asking to send an observation mission despite of the fact that the relations between the OSCE and Azerbaijan are tense.

“The relations have even reached a level that the authorities have banned the activities of the OSCE office in Baku. But the authorities do not want to conduct the elections only with CIS and local observers as the opinion of the CIS observers are not perceived as serious on the international level. From this perspective, the authorities tries to find ways to solve the problem of legitimacy”, the newspaper mentioned.
