Armenian army will restrain rival with adequate response: Defense Minister

YEREVAN, JUNE 30, ARMENPRESS: The Armenian army will do everything to maintain peace in the ceasefire regime and that is now implemented due to the fighting efficiency of the Armenian army and the improvement of the combat capability of our armed forces. Armenpress reports that the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan stated about it during the interview given to the program “Interview” of the Public Television.

“Notwithstanding the fact that with the initiative of the Armenian side, constant works are being carried out to strengthen the ceasefire, our rival, with its non-construction approach, does not create conditions to strengthen the ceasefire. During the European Games in Baku the number of the shots by the rival reduced and there were no subversive actions. Though by then we had seen quite obviously what tension the rival caused by April 24”, - stated the Minister, adding that the international community and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairing countries did their best to maintain ceasefire.

At the same time Seyran Ohanyan stressed that for him the recent shots and the violations of the ceasefire regime by the rival in the direction of the Nakhchivan part are unacceptable and incomprehensible. “Usually the enthusiasm of the opponent fades away when getting a proper response. In the present reality it is the straightjacket to restrain our neighbors. The Armenian army will do everything to maintain peace in the ceasefire regime”, - emphasized the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan.

The Minister stated also that the high ranking militaries of Azerbaijan suffer from the “own invulnerability syndrome” and are detached from the reality.
