Harutyun Khachatryan gets two awards at Moscow film festival

YEREVAN, JUNE 26, ARMENPRESS. Founder of “Golden Apricot” film festival Harutyun Khachatryan got two awards in the frames of the Moscow film Festival. Michael Stambolcyan – project manager of “Golden Apricot” - informed the aforementioned during a press conference. Khachatryan was granted an award for great contribution to the world cinematography on his 60thanniversary. Another award was presented to him by the Guild of Russian cinematographers.

Harutyun Khachatryan is an Armenian film director, script writer, director of photography, film producer, General director of the Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival, Meritorious Artist of the Republic of Armenia and voting Member of European Film Academy since 2006.

Harutyun Khachatryan was born on January 9, 1955 in Akhalkalak (Georgian SSR, now Georgia). 1981 the future director graduated from the Film Department of Cultural Faculty of the Armenian State Pedagogical Institute in Yerevan, Armenia. Khachatryan worked as an assistant director and film-director at the Armenian Documentary Studio and later moved to Hayfilm/Armenfilm Studio. In 2003 Kachatryan was awarded by State Premium of Armenia and became Meritorious Artist of Republic of Armenia. In 2007 he received Prince Claus Award (The Netherlands), in 2008 Khachatryan was awarded by the Medal of “Movses Khorenatsi” by the Armenian Government. His films won at various International film festivals and he holds numerous awards.
