YEREVAN, JUNE 26, ARMENPRESS. As Armenpress reports, John F. Kerry – US Secretary of State – delivered the 2014 Report on Human Rights Protection. According to the report, “Islamic State” and its branches in different parts of the world were the greatest threats for the world in 2014. The first subchapters of the report were dedicated to Russia, the Ukraine issue and Iran’s nuclear plan. US Department of State reflected on our region as well, on the aggravation of strain on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and particularly on the August events.    

According to the report, the Azerbaijani government uses the judicial system to punish dissidents. Unlawful arrests, some of which have political reasons, occur there. As regards Armenia, the US Secretary of State spoke about violation of journalists’ rights and about corruption. The police system was criticized in the report. A number of cases containing violence and oppression, which had happened the previous year, were introduced.
