Giant strawberry in Japan breaks the UK's world record

YEREVAN, JUNE 12, ARMENPRESS: A 250g strawberry grown in Japan has broken the UK's world record, previously held for 32 years. A Japanese farmer has broken the Guinness World Record for the world’s heaviest strawberry, snatching it away from the UK, Armenpress reports, citing The Telegraph.
Koji Nakao from Fukuoka contacted Guinness World Records after coming across the unusually large strawberry during his harvest.
Weighing 250g with an approximate height of 8cm, length of 12cm, and circumference of 25 to 30cm it is now the largest and heaviest strawberry ever recorded.
The record-breaking fruit is a mutation of the Japanese Amaou strawberry and came about after multiples berries were grown and naturally fused together to form one giant strawberry.
Despite the abnormal size and unusual appearance, the strawberry retained its delicious flavor. Nakao's daughter was the first to try the strawberry, calling it "delicious".
The previous record for the world’s largest strawberry on record was grown in Kent by a G. Anderson in 1983.
