Investigative Committee announces names of car accident victims: criminal case instituted

YEREVAN, JUNE 6, ARMENPRESS: A criminal case was instituted on the 7-killed car accident, which occurred on Tashir-Stepanavan highway, nearby Saratovka Village, based on the 3rd part of the 242nd article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia at the Stepanavan Investigation Department of the Lori Regional Investigative Agency of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. Armenpress was informed by the press service of the Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia that a preliminary investigation is being carried out and investigative and judicial actions are taken to determine the causes of the accident.
The car crash took the lives of Tashir city residents Vanik S. Mardoyan, Karen Kh. Khachatryan, Gevorg A. Poghosyan, Arman H. Tonoyan, Gaspar S. Ghukeyan, Vahag V. Albertyan and Yerevan resident Arthur H. Balyan.
Earlier it was reported that at midnight a tragic incident happened in Lori Marz of the Republic of Armenia. The emergency call was received at 00:39am local time on June 6. It was reported that a car was on fire on Tashir-Stepanavan highway, nearby Saratovka Village. Three crews were sent to the scene. The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia informed Armenpress that under still unknown circumstances, a Volkswagen Touareg had gone off the road on the 8th kilometer of the Tashir-Stepanavan highway, hit the rocks and caught fire. The fire was put out at 1:33am. Rescuers pulled the dead bodies from the car.
