Armenia's President highly appreciates OSCE's activities for Karabakh issue regulation

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS. The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received the OSCE Chairperson in Office, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić on June 3.

The Mass Media and Public Relations Department of the Armenian President’s Office informed “Armenpress” that the President of Armenia highly appreciated the OSCE’s activities and role not merely as the main structure engaged in the Nagorno Karabakh issue regulation, but also as an organization acting for maintaining security in entire Europe. Serzh Sargsyan highlighted that Armenia is willing to provide a constant support to Serbia during its entire chairmanship in the OSCE for the realization of the Serbian priorities.

Serzh Sargsyan spoke with satisfaction about the present efficient cooperation with the OSCE Yerevan Office and noted that our country wants to continue and expand that cooperation.

Also, the President of Armenia and Ivica Dačić discussed the Armenian-Serbian bilateral cooperation agenda and prospects of development.

Among other things, Serzh Sargsyan asked to convey his warm wishes to the President of friendly Serbia Tomislav Nikolić and highlighted that his presence at the Armenian Genocide victims commemoration ceremony held in capital Yerevan on April 24 of the current year, was not solely the best expression of the Armenian-Serbian friendship, but also reaffirmation of Serbia’s commitment to struggle against the crimes against humanity.

At the course of the meeting, the interlocutors shared the opinion that opening diplomatic representations in Yerevan and Belgrade will give a new impetus to the Armenian-Serbian friendly relations in all spheres.

Ivica Dačić emphasized that Serbia is also interested in strengthening ties with Armenia and develop bilateral cooperation by certain steps and realization of mutually beneficial programs.

In turn, the OSCE Chairperson in Office highly appreciated the cooperation between the Armenian authorities and various structures of the OSCE, including the organization’s Yerevan office.

At the course of the meeting, Serzh Sargsyan and Ivica Dačić reflected on the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group aimed at the regulation of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the current issues of the negotiations’ present stage and regional challenges.

The President underscored that Armenia will continue cooperation with the Minsk Group striving for the issue’s regulation under the principles suggested by the Minsk Group based on the principles and norms of the international law, the UN Charter and provisions of the Helsinki Final Act.
