YEREVAN, JUNE 2, ARMENPRESS: Armenia is one of the most ancient and fascinating countries in the world, where Europe ends and the East begins, or vice versa. But it is not that important. Armenia, as a travel country, is still unknown to many. Some know that the holy mountain of the Armenians is Ararat and cognac is their irreplaceable drink. Some have maybe read that it is the country, which first officially adopted Christianity.

Though few know that the most ancient wine factory and skirt are in this little Caucasian country, as well as the shoe, which is much older than the Egyptian pyramids. And this is not all. Armenia presents about 4,000 historical monuments, scenes of indescribable nature and the unique national cuisine to the tourists.  
Armenpress News Agency has separated 10 interesting options to spend the summer holidays in Armenia and at the same time explore one of the oldest civilizations of the world.

1. Conquering Mountains


It is not accidental that Armenia is often called the "Mountain Island". Here, the peaks are a lot and often inaccessible. One can go for hiking or mountain climbing only few kilometers away from Yerevan, and the mountains of Syunik are waiting the brave fighters. Coming to Armenia, it is possible to organize trips to Aragatz, Kaputjugh, Ajdahak, Tsaghkunyats and Arai mountains, be in Trasarum and Khoustup.

2. In harmony with nature


If you are not adventurous, there is an alternative. You can enjoy a complete rest in Armenia’s rich nature world. 4. Retrieve the spiritual


The churches and chapels are incalculable in the first Christian country. It is always silence and candlelight under the modest walls. It is required tens of kilometers to reach the sanctuaries away from the residential areas and climb rocks’ peaks. It is so easy to regain the spirituality. The pilgrimage to Tatev, Sanahin, Haghpat, Haghardzin, Sevan, as well as the town of Etchmiadzin can become unforgettable.

5. Following historic trails...


Until today the excavations are being carried out in Armenia. The historical records are a lot in one of the cradles of the ancient world. The unique findings discovered by the archaeologists confirm that Armenia is the heartland of the metalwork, jewelry, wine and breeding. You can see the Bronze and Iron age finds of Metsamor in Ararat valley, which are the symbols of Armenia’s early civilization. Especially Lchashen, Shengavit, Erebuni, Metsamor, Garni, Dvin, Amberd are valuable and many other ancient sites.

The innovation and information technology are developing with a great speed here. The robotics is taught in schools, and the students are competing by the unmanned aerial vehicles. For instance, you can visit the Microsoft Innovation Center, Tumo Center for Creative Technologies, Synopsys Armenian Branch, Dilijan International School and many other innovation centers.

7. Are you hungry?


If you haven’t yet decided why to visit Armenia, then probably you are not familiar with the cuisine. Armenian cuisine is as ancient as the history of Armenia. Here, you should not spend much money to buy organic food. During the dinner, you can buy a bottle of dry wine and any Armenian family entertains you the Armenian brandy. There are numerous restaurants in the capital and other cities of the country, where you can eat delicious foods, but it is accepted in Armenia to organize a small feast in the outdoor recreation areas.

8. Sport recreation


Many people are aware of the Armenian chess. Here the chess is played in almost every yard. But it is not enough for an active vacation, thus, we can think about organizing cycling or navigate in the Lake Sevan. In summer, amateur diving is also organized in the Lake Sevan. Conditions for riding are created in the capital Yerevan. For the visiting center sport event, you can participate in the Pan-Armenian Summer Games.

9. Strengthen the health


In the recent years, Armenia attracts a large number of "medical” tourists. The foreigners are coming to our country, in order to carry out plastic, as well as complicated heart surgeries. And there are health resorts and therapeutic pools to strengthen the health. The cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, neurological, renal, gynecological, respiratory diseases and pancreatic diabetes are treated in the sanitarium. They are particularly concentrated in Jermuk, Arzni, Hankavan, Aghveran, Sevan, Tsakhkadzor and Dilijan cities.

10. Free choice


It is not necessary to make many plans for visiting Armenia. Here you can manage the time freely and walk around the country safely. During the summer months it is possible to go hiking, horseback riding or visit the pool, cross the world's longest tramway and enter the ancient caves. Mostly, Mozrov, Clutch, Bears, Lastiver, seven wells, as well as caves bearing the names of Green and Red are interesting. If that's not enough, take part in festivals and familiarize with the Armenians. After all, Armenia is a land of opportunities.
