Lebanese company constructing massive pecan nut orchards in Armenia

YEREVAN, 30 MAY, ARMENPRESS. For the first time, the Lebanese company initiated a large-scale agricultural project in Armenia. The Gardeni Lebanese Farms L.L.C. will build type of pecans nut orchard in the Kotayk province on 100 hectares land area, the whole product of which will be exported to the European and American markets. Trees have been planted on the 22 hectares land area, and a drip irrigation system is installed there. As “Armenpress” reports, on the purpose of getting acquainted with the establishment of the orchard, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia Sergo Karapetyan visited Yeghvard community of Kotayk province.

Lebanese businessman, the founder of the Gardeni Lebanese Farms LLC Company Nicolas Abu Fayzal told the Minister that the type of the pecans is the most demanded in the western markets, and their company is specialized in the agricultural and other fields. Minister Karapetyan told the businessman that Armenia records a great progress in the field of agriculture, and the Government welcomes the investments in this sector.

"The type of pecans will be grown in Armenia for the first time, but I have to mention that this nut is much in demand. A few years later, approximately 3000 tons of nuts will be produced from this orchard and exported to other countries," the Minister highlighted. Sergo Karapetyan underlined the fact that after becoming a member of EEU, Armenia has a free access to the EU markets, which is inspiring for the investors.
