Monuments of Hovhannes Baghramyan and Hamazasp Babajanyan opened in Zorakan

YEREVAN, 4 MAY, ARMENPRESS. On May 3, an unusual stir was in Zorakan community of Tavush province. The residents of the village and numerous guests attended the solemn opening ceremony of the monuments of USSR Marshal Hovhannes Baghramyan and General Marshal of the Soviet Armed Forces Hamazasp Babajanyan.

The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan, the Governor of Tavush Hovik Abovyan, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation of Rostov Region Timofey Subotin, the Head of Zorakan community of Tavush region and the others attended the opening ceremony of the Monuments and three stones, which were dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, Artsakh heroic battle and 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War).  

"Due to the circumstances, in 1980, over 60 percent residents of Chardakhlou village of Artsakh had been moved to the village Zorakan of Tavush region, but it did not break the spirit of Chardakhlou’s residents and they remained faithful to their traditions,” as “Armenpress” reports, the Governor of Tavush Hovik Abovyan stated this during the opening ceremony speech, expressing gratitude to the donors who had supported the creation of monuments. He also underscored, that they open a new page in the history of Chardakhlou by the opening of the cross-stones and monuments of the USSR Marshals Hovhannes Baghramyan and Hamazasp Babajanyan.
