Armenian cross-stone consecrated at the United Nations Office at Geneva

YEREVAN, 16 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. An Armenian cross-stone was consecrated at the United Nations Office at Geneva on April 15. The cross-stone is a gift from the Government of the Republic of Armenia to the United Nations.

As the Department of Press, Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia reports to “Armenpress”, among the participants of the event were Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the United Nations, Ambassador Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, leaders of the U.S. Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, representatives of UN member states, the Secretariat and different agencies, public and political figures, diplomats, members of the local Armenian community, as well as guests and journalists.

In his speech at the event, Ambassador Mnatsakanyan expressed gratitude to the attendees for participating in the consecration of the cross-stone and mentioned that the cross-stone made in the 12th-13th century symbolizes the Armenian people under the roof of the United Nations. Ambassador Mnatsakanyan mentioned that cross-stones form an inseparable part of the cultural and religious identity of the Armenian people and have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2010.
