"The Eyewitness": 105-year-old Armenian Genocide survivor wishes youth to live and 
become stronger

ARAMUS, 25 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. Even if the time can change the face of old age people, but it is unable to hide the kindness, which becomes evident from first sight and describes Araks Yengoyan who was born in Kars, in 1910. Kars is Araks Yengoyan’s homeland, who is one of the oldest residents of province Kotayk and the survivor-eyewitness of the Armenian Genocide.

“She has immigrated from Turkey, Kars, I do not remember the name of the village. At first they have come to village Bezaklu, which is now called Saranist, then went to Geghashen and later to Aramus,” Aida represented the story of her mother in law's family to us. Aida heard about the story of refuge from Khatchig, the husband of Araks.

Our heroine from historic homeland met her husband Khatchig, who had appeared in American orphanage of Gyumri. Araks has immigrated to Eastern Armenia with her family and sisters, she had no brother.

“Be happy, by joyful heart, health and long life, live and get stronger”, underlines the old woman, who in the early morning blesses not only the family, but everyone.

There is a tradition in this family, that everyone should first greet great grandmother and separate first portion of food just for her.
