YEREVAN, 19 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. On March 19, President Serzh Sargsyan, who is in Brussels on a working visit, participated in the summit of the European People’s Party (EPP). As the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of the Structure to the Office of the President of the Republic of Armenia reports to “Armenpress”, in his speech at the summit, the President touched upon Armenia’s European agenda, the reforms taking place in different spheres of Armenia that are important in Armenia-European Union relations, the year 2015 which is special for all Armenians as they commemorate the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide in Armenia and abroad and attach importance to full international recognition and condemnation of genocides as the only way of preventing crimes against humanity. In his speech, Serzh Sargsyan also touched upon the effective cooperation between the EPP and the Republican Party of Armenia.

Taking the opportunity, the President expressed special gratitude for the passage by the political assembly of the EPP of the “Armenian Genocide and European Values” Resolution on the occasion of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide on 3 March 2015, emphasizing the fact that with that resolution the EPP proved with dignity its loyalty to universal values and principles.

The President of Armenia attached importance to the participation of the guests attending the summit in the events for the commemoration of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, underlining the fact that for the Armenians that will symbolize the victory of European values and European advancement and will be a promising embodiment of the slogan “Never Again”. In this context, Serzh Sargsyan expressed gratitude to President of the European People’s Party Joseph Dole for accepting his invitation to visit Yerevan on April 24^th and for his willingness to commemorate with the people of Armenia the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
