YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 20, ARMENPRESS: The President of France François Hollande expressed wish to make a special address at the event to be held in Paris on February 21 dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the execution of the prominent figure in the French Resistance movement Misak Manushyan and his 22-person group. The President of the Co-ordination Council of Armenian Organizations of France Murad Papazyan told Armenpress that the initiative of the participation belongs to the President of France. “Hollande considers the symbol of Misak Manushyan to be quite strong, particularly a year before the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and valuing his role, the Élysée Palace passed his great wish to take part in the event”, - said Murad Papazyan.
According to the President of the Co-ordination Council of Armenian Organizations of France, the French Armenian community does not exclude that in his message Hollande will touch upon the Armenian Genocide and for the next time will appeal to Turkey to face the own history. “He has spoken about it for many times and expressed his position. It is not the first time that the French President announced that the Armenian Genocide denial criminalizing bill should be brought to life. He confirmed it also in Turkey and I will not be surprised if on February 21 Hollande puts the stress on these issues”, - said Papazyan, adding that the French Armenian community is full of hopes that the statements will shortly be substituted with real process and very soon France will condemn the Genocide deniers.
