CSTO countries equipment to enrich Stepanavan Airport

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS. The Stepanavan Airport will be equipped with the technologies produced by the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). This will make the prevention of disasters registered in the Republic of Armenia faster. The Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia Sergey Yeritsyan stated this at the course of the parliamentary sessions held in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on November 22. As reports “Armenpress” among other things the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia Sergey Yeritsyan underscored: “The Stepanavan Airport was given to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia. I would like to emphasize that the CSTO member states will provide technologies alone. The administration will be carried out by the staff of the Ministry.”

Previously it was reported that in accordance with the decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia the bonds of the Stepanavan Airport were passed to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia. The Head of the State Property Management Department adjunct to the Government of the Republic of Armenia Arman Sahakyan stated that thus the airport will be given to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia, which will exploit that significant object.

Earlier the Stepanavan Airport was under the authority of the State Property Management Department adjunct to the Government of the Republic of Armenia.

Stepanavan Airport (ICAO: UDLS) is a civil airport serving the city of Stepanavan and the province of Lori, in the country of Armenia. It is located 6 km (3.7 mi) northwest of the center of Stepanavan.

The airport operates an exchange agreement with Doncaster Sheffield Airport in the United Kingdom, whereby staff from both undertakes short periods of training at the corresponding airport.
