Armenian Government’s share in health allocations is biggest in South Caucasus:
Monitoring

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 16, ARMENPRESS: The biggest share of the governmental allocations in the total health expenses in the three countries of the South Caucasus belongs to Armenia. Armenpress reports that the results of the monitoring “Caucasus Barometer 2012” carried out by the Caucasus Research Resource Centers prove that fact. The biggest allocations by the government in the field of health have been made in Armenia – about 36% and the private expenses – 64%, in Georgia the figure is 22/78% and in Azerbaijan – 21,5/78,5%.

In the developed countries the governmental allocations in health field make 10% of the GDP or more. According to the data of 2011 provided by the World Health Organization, the health expenses in Georgia were 9,9% of GDP, in Armenia – 4,3% and in Azerbaijan – 5,2%.

The “Caucasus Barometer 2012” was carried out by the Caucasus Research Resource Centers in the three countries of the South Caucasus within the period from October 26 to November 29 2012 among 6715 respondents – 2384 from Armenia, 1829 from Azerbaijan and 2502 from Georgia.

The Caucasus Research Resource Centers program (CRRC) is a network of resource, research and training centers established in 2003 in the capital cities of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia with the goal of strengthening social science research and public policy analysis in the South Caucasus.

A partnership between the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Eurasia Partnership Foundation, USAID and local universities, the CRRC network offers scholars and practitioners stable opportunities for integrated research, training and collaboration in the region.
