YEREVAN, MARCH 22, ARMENPRESS: Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan addressed to participants of “The Armenian Genocide: Challenges on the Eve of the 100th Anniversary" conference organized by the State Commission Coordinating the Events Dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. As President’s Information and Public Relations Department told Armenpress, the message in particular runs as follows:

"Dear conference participants,

The elaboration of agenda is connected with the launch of events in world’s various corners, as well as review to existing shortcomings, the elimination of which will enable us a chance to show more comprehensive and deep approach to their launch, make them  public among the international community.

Armenian Genocide survivors regardless the efforts of perpetrators and their successors, managed to stand up, create their statehood, establish powerful and steadfast national structures in the Diaspora. The 100th Anniversary Armenian Genocide is not just a common anniversary: the launch of various events and commemoration ceremonies will enable us a chance to show the entire world our unity and inflexibility for elimination of Genocide circumstances, and hand over to the coming generations the ways to struggle.

"Dear friends,

The Armenian Genocide history and its subsequent lessons are not related to the Armenian nation history and memories alone. This as well as applies to the Turkish state and Turkish nation history, to state it is an encouraging fact, that denial stance preserved for dozens of years is yielding, the most conscious part of the Turkish society starts to review the tragedy of the past with a new approach, moreover critically access the official position and oppose new denial manifestations.

Suggestions and considerations touched upon in the course of the conference will be surely taken into the account in the works of State Commission Coordinating the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, therefore   we call on to launch more open and unembarrassed discussions regarding specifying further tasks and adoption of a strategy.

We believe that future generations of the Armenians and Turks will definitely find new resolutions of co-existence."
